Tuscaloosa Senior Community Dining
Take a bite out of the good life
At Regency Retirement Village of Tuscaloosa, our dining experience is more than just eating. It’s about socializing and camaraderie.
Using made from scratch recipes and fresh ingredients, our residents can enjoy three delicious and well-balanced meals in our dining room, prepared daily by our culinary team. Residents are able to select from a variety of dining options at each meal. Meals can also be served in-room during periods of illness.
On top of making mealtime pleasant and enjoyable for our residents, we also understand at our senior community the importance of good nutrition for seniors. Eating healthy foods is important regardless of age, but it’s especially critical for older adults. Food gives our bodies energy and also can help control weight, but eating well may also help to prevent some diseases such as osteoporosis, heart disease, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and even some cancers.
There are factors that can make it difficult for seniors to maintain a healthy diet. Some things include:
- Living alone or having trouble getting around well to shop and prepare healthy meals
- Other health issues that can make prepping and cooking food difficult
- Certain medications and conditions that can change appetite, or even change how food tastes
- Problems chewing or swallowing food
At Regency Retirement Village of Tuscaloosa, we help to mitigate all of those factors to ensure your loved one enjoys thoughtful dining with well-balanced meals, and assistance if needed.
According to the National Resource Center on Nutrition & Aging, as of 2017, food insecurity, or having limited access to adequate nutritious food to live healthily, affects 5.5 million seniors 60 or older in the U.S. At our senior community, we focus on helping our residents maintain healthy diets by giving them access to the best meals three times a day, all week long. We also have capable and compassionate staff to provide assistance to residents who need a little extra help at meal times. Our staff at Regency encourages residents to:
- Choose foods high in nutrients to maintain healthy bodies
- Avoid empty calories
- Choose foods that are low in cholesterol and fat
- Drink plenty of water
- Find ways to stay physically active
Meals at Regency are a favorite time for our residents, and we know how important that is to their overall health and wellbeing. Our senior community keeps a focus on healthy eating.
