Ruby Fulmer was born on January 8th, 1940, in Hubbertville, Alabama. Her parents were Fletcher and Lillie Chambless and she had four brothers and three sisters. Ruby married Hillman “Dock” Fulmer on December 5th, 1957, and moved to the New Chapel Community in Bankston, Alabama where she resided until her move to Regency.
They had to make two trips to Mississippi on their wedding day and everyone thought they weren’t going to make it to get married in time on the second trip. Ruby and Dock celebrated 57 anniversaries before his passing on September 29th, 2015.
Ruby attended school in Hubbertville. She worked in the garment manufacturing industry for many years and then worked for Wal-Mart in Fayette until she retired. Ruby has always been known as a very good cook in her family and community. Everyone especially loved her sweet tea and chicken and dumplings. She got up early every Sunday morning and made breakfast and lunch. Most times, there were extra family members to feed when she got home from church.
She has hosted numerous family gatherings over the years. Ruby has two daughters, two sons-in-law, and four grandchildren who she loves to spend time with. Other hobbies and interests include playing rook, doing word search puzzles, and reading. She reads her Bible every morning. Her favorite authors are Nicholas Sparks and Karen Kingsbury. She also enjoys bingo and penny auctions.
